Ten of Wands upright

A man carries all ten wands at once, bent so far forward he cannot see the town he walks toward. This is success converted into burden: everything won, everything carried, nothing delegated. The load is real and the destination near; but note carefully which of these sticks you actually chose.

In love

One of you is carrying the operational weight of the whole bond and calling it love. It is love; it is also unsustainable accounting. Redistribute before resentment does it for you.

In work and money

Competence has been rewarded with more weight, as it always is. Finish the current hill, then renegotiate the bundle; the prize for carrying everything is carrying everything.

When you face a decision

If the goal requires carrying all ten alone, redesign the goal. Arrival matters more than martyrdom.

Ten of Wands reversed

The bundle comes down, by choice or collapse. Either way the sorting begins: which wands are yours, which were absorbed by reflex, which belong to people who watched you carry them. Hand back the borrowed weight without apology.

Reversed in love

The over-carrier is done, spoken or not. Rebalance deliberately now, kindly, or the rebalancing arrives as rupture.

Reversed in work and money

Delegation stops being theoretical: the load sheds or the health does. Choose two wands to keep; assign the rest by Friday.

Choose the lighter path without guilt. Efficiency is not lesser devotion.

Symbolism in our engraving

The Ten of Wands belongs to the suit of Wands, the fire suit, which governs will, energy, ambition, creation and the appetite for more. Upright, its keynotes are the bundle carried, success turned burden, the last hill home; reversed, it turns toward the bundle set down, delegation at last, carrying refused. In our engraving the scene keeps the suit's element close: fire rendered in indigo and candle gold, the card's emblems worked into fine copperplate linework with no text on the face.
